Uniontown, PA Council 1275
Uniontown, PA 15401
During the 40 days of Lent on the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25), our Knights of Columbus organization as a whole celebrate the “Day of the Unborn Child.” Our Council again recognizes this day with a morning mass, rosary and stand at the 5 Corners.
Feast Of The Annunciation
The Pro-life Schedule for Council 1275 for the year starts in January when the March for Life in Washington D.C. occurs. For the past 7 yrs our council recognized this day by offering a Mass for the “Protection of the Unborn Child.” After the Mass, the Knights lead the Rosary which is then followed by a 1-hour stand at the 5 Corners in Uniontown.

Joe Hudak & Bill Lipniskas at Fayette County Fair
For the past 15+ years. the Greater Fayette County Respect Life Committee (GFCRLC) has been providing a pro-life booth at the Fayette County Fair. In these years the KofC Uniontown Council subsidized the cost of that booth that promotes life and the consequences of abortion. Chuck Kosco, the Co-Chairman of GFCRLC joined the Knights of Columbus and since then the GFCRLC and Council 1275 share the booth with the Council taking care of the cost at the Fair.

Life Chain Sunday - Five Corners
“Life Chain Sunday” is a national organized event and occurs on the 1st Sunday of October. Locally the Pro-Life crowd assembles peacefully and prayerfully at the 5 Corners in Uniontown. This special Sunday has been organized by Brother Knight Chuck Kosco for the past 20 years. Greater Fayette County Respect Life Committee founder, Fr. George Alderson, organized the first Life Chain Sunday in Uniontown in 1994 with close to 300 people in attendance that afternoon.
40 Days For Life
Not long after the March for Life in D.C., the “40 Days for Life” comes around. This is considered the largest grassroots movement to end abortion. It consists of 40 days of prayer outside a hospital or clinic (Planned Parenthood) that performs these horrible killings. This pro-life cause happens twice a year, during the 40 days of Lent and then again during the month of October and the days leading into it. Our Chaplain, Fr. Tim Kruthaupt, started a group called Guardians for Life that makes these trips to the Planned Parenthood in Pittsburgh. Brother Knights from our council accompany Fr. Tim as he leads us in prayer and song. Pictured from left to right are Joe Hudak, Tom Feduska, Tom House, Fr. Tim Kruthaupt, and Tom Palya.
